aging

Lately I've been really taken aback by how distracted I get when watching tv (netflix, to be precise). Everyone's accustomed to the hypersexualizing of women (and men) but I can't describe what's been getting my attention other than the bare fecundity of certain women on screen. It's disconcerting, and I imagine it's part of biology trying to tell me to procreate. I can only hope it passes.

hooray for midterms

like sixteen percent of the country, i voted. they even gave me a handicap voting apparatus and told me i didn't have to wait in line. that was really nice of them. what about control of the congress? does it matter? the government is going to keep on being the government no matter who is in charge of it, at least in terms of the people working for it. as far as the politicians we elect, when was the last time they actually passed laws that reflected what people wanted? it's kind of shocking to me, really. you can look at the health care package that eventually got passed, and it's sad; what was passed was a compromise that satisfied nobody. at that point, it should never have passed instead of passing in a state that nobody liked.

if i want a Ferrari and my wife wants a Porsche we shouldn't just compromise repeatedly until we buy a Kia Firenza. right?

personally, i don't like our current executive. i just think he's dishonest. that's really kind of my right as an american. but at the same time i don't like anyone else in the field. i'm especially distrustful of these tea party chimpanzees. i'd vote for maggie thatcher. i'd vote for bill clinton. i'd vote for madeleine albright. but the field of people that are actually available to me right now as a voter is just dismal.

maybe larry page will run. i'd have to think real hard about that.
